Screw conveyors and compactors

Faced with the ever-increasing demand for bar screen and screw combinations, we decided to design and make our own screws. Thus, in September 2006, screw conveyors and screw compactors joined our range of products.
In a context where every operator is trying to reduce running costs, screw compactors are becoming essential for bar screen stations as time goes by. The aim is to decrease the costs of waste collection (reducing volumes and collecting frequency) and to improve the hygiene of the stored waste.
Moreover, the number of screws manufactured in our workshop shows the growing interest in this product :
  • 5 in 2006,
  • 17 in 2007,
  • 31 in 2008,
  • 39 in 2009,
  • 40 in 2010.

"Operating principle"

Waste from the bar screen is dumped in a trough, through a hopper adapted to the bar screen one. The shaftless Archimedes screw pushes the waste to the exit hopper for screw conveyors or to the compression chamber for screw compactors . The trough is protected from screw friction by an HD500 strip.

The 500-mm-long compression chamber is composed of a cylindrical sheet steel basket with 60x4mm perforations, 4 cleaning nozzles, which can be supplied by an optional electro-valve, and a compression valve at the exit. Access to the chamber is easy via a trapdoor pivoting on hinges that can be fastened with a padlock.
The drained water is evacuated from the compression chamber, through DN65 tubing welded under the trough, to the channel or post.
At the compression chamber exit, compacted waste is dumped directly in a waste container or is packed by a bagging system using 70-metre plastic refills.
Our screws are delivered with height-adjustable support legs which can be removed if desired.
